Parents

Alaska Learning Labs is an after-school tutoring program, which is free to you and your child. We can help your child do better in school. If you choose Alaska Learning Labs, your child will receive 90 minute tutoring sessions 3-5 days per week, that are fun and specific to your child’s needs. Your child will have a program designed based on test scores, teacher input, and family input.

The program includes Compass Learning Odyssey and Achieve 3000. These two award-winning computer programs have a reading and math lessons. Your child will also have lots of opportunities to read books including fiction and non-fiction and play math games that help with learning skills like place value, addition, subtraction, and math vocabulary.

Your child will have lots of opportunities to earn points by participating in the free tutoring sessions. Children can then use the points earned to go shopping in our online store for items such as school supplies, personal care items, games, electronics, and more.

Last year, 455 students, ages 5-13 who participated in Alaska Learning Labs free tutoring improved in reading and math.* Parents and students are surveyed every year, and results show that children love the program and parents believe their children are doing better in school because of the program. The Alaska Learning Labs (AKLabs) is a program of SERRC, Alaska’s Educational Resource Center, a non-profit agency providing educational services to school districts throughout the state for over 30 years.
